Driving instructor training in Switzerland

On 1st January 2008 a new qualification requirement for driving instructors was introduced in Switzerland. The new way of training involves a new modular training scheme made up of 7 different modules. Each of the modules comprises the required theoretical, practical and practice-related foundations covering various topics such as behavior in traffic, road safety training, motor vehicle technology, legal foundations, communication or finally candidate preparation for a final examination. The candidates for the instructors get extensive knowledge about this fields. These can be taken at one of the approved driving instructor training colleges. The new driving instructor training scheme has been developed to meet the increased requirements drivers are faced with by road traffic today. As efforts have been made to improve road safety, driver training requirements have also increased. The aim of the new driving instructor training scheme is to ensure that future driving instructors are much better prepared for carrying out this training. People must trust that their driving instructors that they exactly know what they are doing, have the necessary knowledge and know how to educate people.
